Silk Tree Nurseries specialize in large plants for instant gardens. We can supply shrubs up to 6ft tall by mail order, delivered to your door. These shrubs are fully rooted and can be planted any time of the year. All sizes include the pot.

Azalea - SPECIMEN JAPANESE AZALEA - Red / Pink
15litre pot, 4ft High (inc. pot), 3ft diameter spread

Japanese deciduous Azaleas are grown for their profusion of large flowers in Spring and can make exciting, dramatic plants in a woodland, shady, or Japanese Forest Style garden. Azalea's do well in partial shade, and they make beautiful patio trees, or can be planted in the ground using a peat mixture to give the ground some acidity.
We are offering a limited number of specimen sized Azalea in 15litre sized pots. They are mixed colours, pink or red.
One of these specimen sized Azaleas are included in our Japanese Forest Style Instant Border which we also offer  (please see Instant Plant Collections) and these Azaleas go well with Japanese Temple Cedars, Hostas, Japanese Painted Ferns, Bamboos, and Japanese Quinces.

Azalea (mixed) , 15litre pot (similar specimen shown in photo) £39.99

Azalea japonica - columnar grown
5litre pot, 28inches  (inc. pot), 1ft diameter spread

Azaleas are grown for their beautiful display of richly coloured flowers in Spring, and are admired in both Japanese style gardens and english style gardens alike. They can also be grown successfully in pots on the patio.
Requiring soil on the acidic side, use a good peat based compost (or garden waste compost) to acidify a clay based soil - Azaleas can also be used to great effect in fernerys. Picture to the left shows some of the actual specimens on offer (taken March 6th).

Azalea 5litre pot (similar specimen shown in photo) £19.99 (A)

Box Topiary Cubes - 10inch square Cubes - 7litre sized pot

Box is the ideal plant for formal 'natural' garden sculpture. If you are new to topiary, then a box specimen is an ideal way to begin. They are fully hardy plants, that only require watering (if in a container) and clipping to maintain the shape.
Topiary has been used in formal Italian and European gardens for hundreds of years, and our own English country gardens have some spectacular displays. Ideal as a lawn compliment, or as a patio feature, box topiary instantly gives that refined, cultured look to a small garden.
The photos to the right show some of the ACTUAL SPECIMENS on offer. We are offering TWO box CUBES which are 20inches in height inc. the pot, and are 10inch each side of the cube.
These make extremely elegant specimens for pathways and front entranceways to the house.  Box topiary can also be used in Italian Formal Style gardens, and go well with Italian Cypress, Hibiscus, Wisteria, Jasmine, and upright conifers.

SAMBUCUS BLACK LACE  - Black Dissected Elder

One of the most exciting hybrids of recent years has been this amazing lacy leaf pure BLACK form of Sambucus. This is simply a MUST HAVE plant for any garden! It's leaf form is very like a JAPANESE MAPLE, but this Sambucus is much easier to grow and maintain, requiring no particular soil, position, or watering. It is deciduous, so you are going to lose those stunning leaves over winter, but the reward is that this plant bursts into black leaf in early spring, and in early summer, Sambucus Black Lace is covered in sprays of large PINK flowers which are superb against the black dissected leaves.
This is an EASY plant to grow, and can cope with most conditions, and can be used in the garden as a specimen plant, or in a pot for a patio display.  We are offering very large 12litre specimens, which are 5-6ft inc. pot.

12litre  (5-6ft inc. pot) £49.99 (B)
